What should I do if my water heater is leaking from the top?

Leaks at the top usually come from the cold or hot flex connections, the temperature and pressure (T&P) valve connection, the anode rod port, or condensation near the vent. First, turn off power to the unit (flip the breaker or set the gas control to Off). Then close the cold-water shutoff valve on top of the heater. Wipe the area dry and watch for active drips. Do not tighten gas or electrical fittings. We service tank and tankless systems in Los Angeles and nearby.
